It’s Time for a Change
Dark Money is choking our democracy, but Christ Kallas is a breath of fresh air. He vows to not accept corporate money, foreign funds, AIPAC cash, or SUPERPAC spending; Let’s get money out of politics for good.
stop supporting corporate politicians

My beliefs, my convictions, and my stances
-
I will use every lever at my disposal to push forward my agenda to get us healthcare and get money out of politics - and I’m willing to take over the Democratic Caucus to do so.
When Democrats retake the House next year then 25 motivated progressives could refuse to vote for the speaker unless they pass our agenda in full.
If Congress is too far gone to succumb to reason, then I’ll spend my entire tenure calling out corporate politicians, building working-class coalitions, and passing policies that help the American people the old-fashioned way.
-
I’m committed to combating antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Palestinian discrimination and violence in all its forms. I support the protection of First Amendment rights for protestors, and advancement of policies rooted in human dignity and international law. I support the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation and their fight for equal rights and self-determination. I call for a U.S. arms embargo on Israel, an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank, full restoration of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and an end to Israel’s illegal occupation and settlement expansion project.
Elected officials of the United States have a moral obligation to use all diplomatic means available to stop the ongoing genocide and forced-famine in Gaza.

…are human rights.
The personal healthcare guarantee in my Working Families Bill of Rights restores and reinforces the privacy protections of Roe v Wade. For all of us in general, that means our private medical information is ours - that includes what genitals we have or what configurations our chromosomes are in.
The transphobic bathroom bills across the country are already illegal, but having full medical privacy would mean that any law like them would be unenforceable. Like the regressive sodomy laws of the past, these laws will be seen as illegally intrusive.

The current generation is the first in history to be earning less than their parents at the same time in their lives.
Americans in their 20s and 30s are saddled with more debt, higher rent, and more expensive education than any previous generation. It’s time to give regular Americans the kind of break that billionaires have been getting for decades.
It will increase spending in the economy as tens of millions of borrowers will have $270 more dollars per month they can spend in our economy.

I refuse to take funds from AIPAC or related organizations.
Sunshine is the best medicine for corruption. We need to require transparency from dark money organizations like AIPAC.
We need to get money out of politics, but until we can we must use the tools we have available to combat it. We must force foreign-influence PACs to register as foreign agents, which are under much more scrutiny even in the current system.
-
I support term limits for every branch of government - I think government should be more accessible to people who have the everyday lived experience of their district and turnover in representation is healthy.
Getting multi-decade, corrupt incumbents out of office is a necessity for the health of our democracy.
-
The tools of presidential overreach need to be taken away from the office. The Alien Enemies Act, the Insurrection Act, and the Tariff power must all be repealed.
-
Unequivocally, we need to own our data, not big tech companies.
We need to model a national law on the protections already available in California - we must stop companies from collecting, collating, and selling our data without our approval.
We must be able to know what data a company has on us, and be able to demand it be deleted.
-
Collective bargaining means we all get to rise together, even if you don’t have a union yourself.
Unions negotiating for higher wages, better working conditions, and fair hours incentivize other business to pay fairly and provide benefits because the alternative is that their business could unionize.
It wasn’t that long ago that companies were hiring mercenaries to go to war with their own employees to stop unionization.
Next time you get a weekend off, understand that union workers fought and died in the streets so you could have those two days off.
And if you don’t have two days off, maybe you should learn how to start a union.

Because nobody should be indebted to their employer just to stay alive; medical bankruptcies shouldn’t exist at all and should not be the number one leading cause of bankruptcy. No one should get between your doctor and your health, especially not politicians in Washington D.C.
-
To secure American elections for American Working Families we need to get money out of politics! We need to institute strict spending caps; stop unlimited corporate spending; get lobbyist money out of D.C.; stop congressional stock trading; and make it illegal to profit from being an elected representative of the people.
-
The cruel immigration system must be made humane, efficient, and transparent. ICE needs to have its jurisdiction reined in, it’s agents need to be repurposed, and strict oversight needs to be implemented but more than that, the system must be reformed. If you asked 10 different Americans what the “right” way to come to this country, you’d get 10 different answers. We need to open immigration centers with an obvious path for asylum seekers, places for visa processing, proper vetting, and timely processing. Leaving immigrants in a gray area has allowed for abuses which must be addressed and corrected.

Because working parents shouldn’t have to choose between their income and their children. It’s too expensive to raise a child in America, especially places with higher costs of living like in IL-08.
-
Because a fair economy and good paying jobs starts with accessible education. We have a shortage of experienced tradespeople and blue-collar jobs used to be the number one way into the middle-class, now over 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck; many of us are just struggling to survive, let alone go to school.
-
We need to build more housing and faster; corporate landlords should not be able to own multiple properties; American houses should belong to the families that live in them.
-
Kids in asthma-alley don’t get a second set of lungs. We need a hard clean-power deadline, affordable electric cars, and a New Civilian Conservation Corps to tear pollution down while building families up - we’ll be launching hundreds of thousands of environmental-focused union jobs. We refuse to hand our children a burning planet and call it “freedom.

NO NEW TAXES ON THE WORKING CLASS, THE MIDDLE CLASS, OR SMALL BUSINESSES
Make the 1% pay their fair share - an excise tax on the wealth of the top 1%, progressive taxes on those making over $100M
Make Wall Street pay their fair share - Speculation tax on high-dollar trades, tax corporate stock buybacks
Legalize Cannabis - Fully legalize and tax cannabis at the federal level
Automate Debt Ceiling - Stop letting politicians lower America’s credit score by shutting down government
